- Nadi and Port Denarau are useful places to begin planning a western Fiji trip. Agree the marina, boarding time and transfer before fixing flights or a hotel stay. For a resort stay, share the island and hotel so the transfer to your yacht can be planned.

- A day charter and an overnight island journey need different plans. If both the Mamanucas and Yasawas appeal, ask which stops fit comfortably within your nights aboard. Fewer moves can leave more time for swimming, meals and a favourite anchorage.
- Choose dates alongside the route

- Keep the quoted currency clear and check whether tax, fuel, food and drinks are included or charged separately. An expense allowance is separate from the base fee.
- Travel and activities
- Allow for flights, transfers, accommodation either side of the charter and any separately arranged diving or shore experiences. Ask about delivery charges for the proposed boarding point.
